Friday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) received an envelope containing suspicious powder and a threatening letter. The NYPD Emergency Services Unit and the Department of Environmental Protection of NYC investigated the substance and determined it to be non-hazardous. However, the letter read, "ALVIN : I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!! " The incident comes in the midst of Bragg's investigation of former President Donald Trump over a $130,000 hush payment made to Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and posted on Truth Social calling for his supporters to protest and suggesting that Bragg's seeking of charges could result in "potential death and destruction," House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y. ) has denounced Trump's rhetoric as "reckless, reprehensible and irresponsible." Increased security has been implemented inside and on the perimeter of the Manhattan Courthouse as officers have been reminded to remain vigilant and maintain situational awareness
