Former New York governor Andrew Cuomo has spoken out against investigations into former President Donald Trump in both New York and Georgia. Cuomo, who resigned from office in 2021 after his own investigation revealed he had sexually harassed 11 women and his administration had intentionally undercounted the number of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes, called the investigations a "cancer in our body politic" and argued that they were politically motivated. He suggested that the case against Trump in New York should be a federal case rather than a state one and that it should be a misdemeanor rather than a felony. ?
The Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is expected to bring charges against Trump over a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election. New York Attorney General Letitia James is also prosecuting Trump and his three adult children over possible financial crimes from the Trump Organization, while Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is investigating Trump's alleged attempts to interfere with the election in 2020 in Georgia.
Cuomo even criticized President Biden for the current migrant crisis, suggesting that Mayor Eric Adams should consider sending migrants to Albany if he does not receive help from the state. Cuomo's remarks have caused an uproar among both Democrats and Republicans, with many questioning his motives and his position on the investigations into Trump.
